Gun Violence Arguments
A lot of people lose their lives because of gun violence in America. This problem is an ongoing debate and the people suffer everyday in United States. Guns are a problem if people don’t know how to use it carefully. In most of the cases guns are legally purchased but some people that are mentally ill took advantage of it using it to harm other people. Mass shooting that took place in Las Vegas last month, where the gunman attacked large crowds of people while they were at the concert from his hotel shows that if we don’t take any action against it right now it will get much worse.
In my research, I found that most of the attacks are carried by handguns not the semiautomatic weapons and opponents argue that even if we restrict or ban some

In the past recent years in American there were over 464,033 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2013. This statistic demonstrates a major problem with the gun control in America. We as Americas have the right to bear arms provided to us by the second amendment. We have the right to bear arms but unfortunately its misused when people use the guns for needless killings. Two of the most memorable examples are the Massacre at Columbine and Sandy Hook.…

I agree with your perspective regarding our mental health care system. Gun violence's are typically "crimes of passion" and unfortunately, the lack of mental health resources is a huge issue. We have all heard of the unfortunate stories of family members desperately trying to get their loved ones, in a psychiatric crisis, help to no avail. Sadly, both our mental health care system and our gun control system is inadequate due to lack of interest or concern and tragically there are cases when both systems fail (Knopf, 2014). Although, we are aware of the issues, there are still several questions that still need answering. First of all, is there evidence that if an individual is treated appropriately would this advert a tragic event (Knopf,…

On the contrary, opponents of gun-control laws claim that it is useless to prevent violence by regulating guns. In fact, law-abiding citizens are already permitted to carry concealed weapons in forty states with gun crimes rate remaining the same (Wright). In my opinion, with guns thousands of citizens could save their lives. Just like Jessica, they gain courage because guns are available to them when emergencies occur.…

Hello. I hope you are all doing well today. I see you all made it here alive. I would like you to think about that, as well as a couple of questions the next time you hear the word “Crime” or “Gun Control”. “Would more restrictive gun control policies have the unintended effect of impairing citizens’ means of self-defense?”. “Would restrictions stop attacks on public figures or thwart deranged persons and terrorists?” These were questions raised in the “Supreme Court Debates; Apr2010, Vol. 13 Issue” .…

I picked the topic Gun Laws because I thought it would be an interesting thing to learn and research about. Throughout my research about Gun Laws I found a few good resources but the others weren't that great. The best resource I found was an article about how if a person in Virginia admits themselves to a mental health institution, there right to own a weapon is taken away immediately. Then they go on to add that after the person recovers, the patient is trying to get the weapon back but they might not be able to gain that right again. One interesting thing that was said was "This article argues that it would be in the best interest of the patient and the community to amend Virginia's voluntary admission form so that individuals who seek voluntary mental health treatment are not automatically relieved of their firearm…

Gun violence is one main thing that tears families apart. Crazy, non-educated people roam the streets with dangerous weapons killing people and causing tragedies. Society would have done better if only police had the access to weapons and guns instead of civilians and criminals, although they could be confiscated. Gun violence incidents have been happening for a very long time, most of the time without a reason. Shootings, robberies, etc. all include the use of a weapon like a gun. These things happen every day. For example, if someone is trying/planning on killing someone, they won’t be able to do that without a weapon. Guns are meant for self-defense, people like gangsters don’t use them the way they’re supposed to be used, but why? Using them not the right way will get them in trouble and do nothing but get them thrown in jail, just use guns in the proper form, for self-defense, not homicidal kills. It is important to always stay cautious of your…

Who thought that such a small bullet could have such a big impact on America? In recent times, the issue of gun control has become a progressively intense topic. Whenever a national catastrophe occurs that involves gun brutality, the question on what to do about American’s gun control takes the spot light. Most of the crimes that involve firearms are committed with the use of a handgun; this is a serious problem with America today. Although, most would agree that the world needs to come up with a solution about all the gun violence that we deal with every day, no one seems to have any answers at this point. Most gun control supporters believe that completely banning handguns is the best way to protect citizens. Banning handguns would not be an effective solution because banning…

Being an International student, American politics never seemed to interest or bother me. However, after taking this class, it has gotten me thinking about the various policies and proposals by the various candidates in this upcoming election. The main topic that developed my interest in politics was the response 1 on Gun control. I never knew what the second Amendment meant until I took this class. With the recent shootings that’s happening all over US, the issue on gun control has become an open subject to debate on. Being assigned this topic made me more familiar with the events that has been happening in the real world. With the unfortunate events of San Bernardino shooting and the recent UCLA shooting, it has gotten me thinking about whether there is a need for a change in the second Amendment or not. Furthermore, the humorous videos by Jim Jeffrie and John Oliver and numerous informative memes has only enhanced my interest regarding this topic. I also found it to be very interesting on how Australia dealt with this similar issue by taking away people’s gun even though it had been governed by a conservative party that went against its own belief. Moreover, with Bernie Sanders hosting a rally at UC Davis, I was very keen in listening to what he was saying. I never thought I would go to such an event.…

In 2016 alone there were over 15,000 gun related deaths in the United States. Over half these deaths were violent deaths (murder, mass shootings, etc.) If this doesn’t prove that America has a gun problem, I don't know what will. The debate over gun control versus gun rights has been raging for years. Gun control activists have been battling congress for years now, but the second amendment makes congressmen and women hesitant to pass any laws that limit gun rights. I believe that America needs to take a stand and finally put limitations that make getting guns harder. Something needs to be done about the epidemic in this country, and it begins with Congress.…

Do guns kill people or do people kill people? Child soldiers is a very heart-wrenching topic. Yes, children are taken from their families and commanders forcefully require these children to kill people. These children are brainwashed and drugged into thinking that this act is the correct thing to do, when clearly it is not. Like any other murderer they should be prosecuted.…
