Gun Violence Essay
On average, 31 Americans are murdered with guns every day and 151 are treated for a gun assault in an emergency room. By looking at the statistic shown above, you can see how huge the number of people that are being killed everyday in America and how relevant this issue is today. As the years go by, it seems as though you hear more and more about gun violence, that it is sicken to ones stomach. It is impossible for one to turn on the news and not hear about some gun related crime from day to day. It seems as though guns have turned into a fad for our generation when the original purpose for a firearm was to protect. Its strange how guns were once seen as a way of protection but now it is used for a number of incidents such as assault and brutality.

Everyday you hear about many cases of murder and assaults dealing with a gun. On average “more than 30 people are shit and murdered each day”(Heeding Gods Hands). This tells us that over 30,000 people are being victims to gun violence each year. Many of these crimes are being presented to us right in front of our eyes. They are happening in communities, workplaces, schools, and sadly enough even in churches. Since the media is a well-known way for us to get daily news, we see the source and effects of these guns but yet it seems as though gun violence does not plan on decreasing anytime soon. Some well-known cases of gun violence in our communities would be the Trayvon Martin shooting, Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Charleston Church shooting, The Columbine High School shooing in Colorado, and many other cases that take place in numerous of communities around you. Many of these crimes are different but similar in many ways. All of these crimes differ from race, gender, crime location, and victims being targeted. All of these variables play a role in the overall statistics surrounding gun violence. If one is familiar with the cases listed above, you will see that these cases are not only involving peer to peer crimes but are also involving law enforcements. You wouldn’t think in a million years that you would see a citizen and a policeman both participate in a crime together. This just shows how there is lack of gun control and safety in our
