Gymnastics Research Paper
“Gymnastics taught me everything - life lessons, responsibility and discipline and respect.” Shawn Johnson was my idol while I was doing gymnastics. She motivated me to work harder on every event and one day be able to compete. I first started off by doing basic tumbling on the floor. My coaches would teach me new skills and spot me on them. They introduced me to floor, bars, beam, and vault. I thought that going to gymnastics a couple times a week would make me achieve new skills.

First starting out, you won’t be able to do everything. That was something that was hard for me to understand, because i wanted to be able to do everything. For bars, you might simply start by doing tap swings or pullovers. Some beginner skills for floor are cartwheels

“We’re on the paleo diet,” two of my former male co-workers said back in 2013 as they were sitting down to eat on our lunch break. Four massively poached eggs wiggled on each of their plates along with two sides stacked with bacon. I remember staring at them with a look of concern, and a bit of disgust since I cannot stomach eggs myself. When I asked what the heck a paleo diet was, one of them laughed like I had asked what 2 + 2 equaled.…

Through these four years, our team has struggled with leadership from our seniors in addition to our coaches. My teammates naturally gravitated towards me for leadership because of my positive attitude, a quality our seniors lacked. When our practices would become hostile, I tried my best to relieve the stress of my teammates and bring positive energy. After practices, many of the cheerleaders would come to me to talk…

In high school I won tournaments and beat high-quality wrestlers. During my junior year I was determined to become a great wrestler. I worked harder than ever and didn’t let anyone stop me. That year I lost the Illinois state wrestling tournament championship match by one point.
