HOSA Mission Statement
HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

HOSA was founded in 1976 out of a task force from the American Vocational Association in order to determine whether a new student organization accommodating healthcare students was necessary.

It takes on a quintessential “Functional” Departmentalization Structure which means that the AHA is set up to be very efficient in terms of putting people together with shared skill sets and specialties, but can also hamper communication for the same reasons. When you have specialists together, more than just the structure can prevent fluid communication. Often times there are cultural distinctions between departments. Their values are weighted differently and departments can even take on a language of their own with specialized jargon. Functional designs are also prone to perceiving other departments as “out groups” which can create the unhealthy type of intercompany competition.…

As previously stated, Holzer’s mission is friendly visits, excellent care, every patient, every time. I believe I provided friendly visits to everyone who walked into the Human Resource department. I tried to help as much as possible with any questions they had so I believe that could count for excellent care for every patient or employee. When I read Holzer’s mission statement I believe it is aimed more towards the physician and patient relationship but I did what I could to make it apply to my jobs. One thing I really liked about Holzer is every morning each department does their own huddle. A huddle is a short meeting to catch your department up on what is happening on that day. Every day during our morning huddle we would all say the mission…

Unlike some other fields of scholarship, history is not an exact science. We can establish with some certainty many of the basic "facts" of history— that the United States declared its independence in 1776. for example; or that the North won the Civil War; or that the first atomic bomb was detonated in 1945. But wide disagreement remains, and will always remain, about the significance of such facts. There are as many different ways of viewing a historical event as there are historians viewing it. In reading any work of history, therefore, it is important to ask not only what facts the author is presenting but how he or she is choosing and interpreting those facts.…
