HPV Vaccination
The human papillomavirus infection (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). HPV can be spread by having vaginal, anal, and oral sex with a person who is infected. More than often people have health problems that come with it like genital warts or cancers. Vaccinations help prevent certain types of HPV infections but not all. With 14 million people getting infected every year, it is important to become aware of the infection and what ways can help prevent it. If the individual is already having unprotected sex with multiple partners, the individual definitely needs to be tested. Going with the individual to get tested if the person wants the support. Another way to talk to the person about their sex habits is to just be straightforward with the person. A school in Sweden had an prevention program, sending kids to the nurse for a thirty minute talk on general facts about the virus, how it is transmitted, what HPV can cause on a body, the risk factors, prevention of the infection by talking about safe sex with condom use and the HPV vaccination, the locations where the girls could receive the vaccine for free, facts about the vaccine, and the importance for girls to get cervical cancer screenings.
