HSTE 2 Research Paper
HSTE II Essay I want to be a part of HSTE II because in the future I want to be a doctor. Right now I’m not very sure about what kind of doctor I want to be that is why I really want to be in this program so that I can experience all the parts in a hospital and find what kind of areas in the medical field that I’m really interested in, and which ones just don’t fit me and my interests. I don’t want to choose a path that I will end up regretting just because I don’t enjoy what I do. I am a person who loves to help and care for people, especially the people who really need the help, and I am a very quick learner. I always try to put myself in other person’s position because believe in the saying “Treat others the way you would like to be treated”. I intend to bring these major qualities of mine to the HSTE II class/clinical rotations because I think it is very important for someone in the medical field who attends to other people when they are at their lowest and weakest point to have these …show more content…

What I hope to gain from HSTE II personally is the experience of being in a hospital and figuring out my own personal interests in each of the different departments of the hospital to help me make my final career choice later on after I graduate high school. Academically, I hope to gain the knowledge of how to work in all the departments so that if I do decide that I like a certain area, I will already have had experience in it. My career goals are to graduate high school, go to Baylor University or UT, and then Medical School. I am still not very sure about the field of medicine I want to study in, but I have already told myself that I will have that decided by the time I become a senior. Hopefully making it into HSTE II will help be a stepping stone to making my

This solution may not be a good fit for a possible solution because one person to take care of seven patients and this would not be very cost effective. Staff would on most days would run out of things to do. The increase in staff may also make patients have to pay more to cover the costs associated with hiring more staff. On the other hand having two people will allow staff to give all patients the time and attention he or she needs, this idea will be put on the back burner.…

I chose to write about The United Way of America. The reason I chose this organization was because I have seen pretty much advertised in many human service place. Even as a kid, I can recall seeing at least the well-known logo that identifies the organization. Before researching and gathering the information needed to complete this paper, I knew that this organization was a well known nationally established entity. What I did not know was the extent of it service. I was quite shocked to learn that it does not only serve the United States. Its service exceeds far beyond our borders. I was also impressed in the extent of what services it provides.…

My personal nursing mission statement is changing and developing as my career advances, however, one core piece will remain constant. I will strive to provide the best, safest, most ethical and compassionate nursing care that I can for all patients and family members with whom I come in contact. I began my post-high school academic career as an accounting major. I enjoyed the challenge of manipulating a report until I had balanced. I thought I had found my calling. As my first semester was nearing an end, I found myself contemplating the thought of sitting behind a desk all day. I wondered if I would find fulfillment in this work as a career? The more I pondered this thought, the more I realized that this was not the right career path for me. I saw images of the medical assistant program in the catalog at the school where I was attending. I could not shake the thought of the medical field for a profession. I attained my medical assistant degree and worked in the field for 10 years. The longer I worked, the more I realized that there was more that I wanted to do, but my current degree restricted me from going further. I researched nursing school programs and selected one with a night/weekend program that would allow me to continue working full-time during my studies. I have a family that I needed to continue to provide for and this seemed to be the best fit. My nursing school decision was fortified when I was selected for an award by the nursing faculty from all four semesters for excellence in the clinical setting. After graduation, I began my nursing career working as a case manager for orthopedic worker’s compensation patients. During this time I gained critical knowledge of the importance of clear documentation, the ever-changing requirements of insurance companies and an extra measure of compassion for…

The journey to medical school has by no means been an effortless one. Choosing the non-traditional route to complete my studies has not only equipped me with the maturity necessary to excel in medical school, but also the knowledge required to overcome the challenges I may encounter during my journey. Upon completing my undergraduate studies at FSU, I subsequently went on to complete additional post baccalaureate science courses at both Miami Dade College and Florida International University. Also, I have recently completed my Masters degree in Biomedical Science at Barry University. During my undergraduate and graduate years, I maintained full time employment, which has taught me the art of time management; a trait I believe will be essential to my success while in…

At first I was very nervous to apply as a volunteer and had doubts about being hired. After a long process of applications, interviews, and trainings, I was assigned to work at 6-CD on Geriatric floor. While I was volunteering there I met with different people, nurses, doctors, and pharmacy technicians. Seeing the pace of work they work in made me realize how important it is to work in healthcare. For me, the most significant issue was to get the used to patients who have passed away. I have seen a situation where a nurse and a doctor telling a family member that their father has passed away. At first I hesitated and asked myself if I am brave enough to do the same in future. As I volunteered there I realized I got used to everything, I was able to handle…

At the same time, I look forward to going through all my clinical rotations through my school, and am also up for the task upon being hired at any hospital I am given the privilege to work at, to be a “floater”. This will give me the experience and knowledge in various departments so that I can be well-rounded, and when called upon for help, I can quickly assist. I believe it is important to be a team player and be open to…

When I was a young child, I witnessed my sister receiving stitches on her head. We were jumping on my bed when she fell and hit her head on the headboard. I was inspired by the medical professionals who treated her. Although this was a traumatic experience, it helped shape my aspiration to help others. Serving and improving the lives of others is a fundamental duty that I believe should be a part of everyone’s personal mission. Working in healthcare is the path that I discovered as an ideal way to accomplish this goal of service. In particular, I intend to eventually become an anesthesiologist where I will assist patients during medical procedures.…

Educators teach and lead their students to success. In a similar manner, internal medicine will give me the opportunity to empower my patients to be in control of their health. I am certain that I would not be satisfied with the pursuit of anything other than internal medicine as a career when skills I have acquired during my clinical training could have a much more visceral application in understanding and alleviating real distress experienced by people daily. As my interest in internal medicine was deepening, I better understood the applications my character and personal experience could have in this field. I recognized the extent of effective communication with patients from diverse backgrounds. My personal experiences have helped me to…
