Hard Work vs Luck
"When people succeed in life, it is because of hard work. Being lucky has nothing to do with success in life” Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

“Persistence is the material to success”, I believe in this quote. With an earnest effort, ones put in their work would help them to achieve their goal and eventually become successful in their lives. However, luck is just a small element that happens once in a blue moon. Thus, I agree that people can become successful in their life by hard work rather than by luck.

There are many successful people who began from rank. Abraham Lincoln, the US president, who was a very poor peasant’s son. He was a very hard working person that he helped his parents to work in the day time and studied on his own at night. At last, he became the US president. Hence, It is cleared that luck is not the only matter to determine whether people will become successful in their life or not. In fact, no one can foresee what is going to happen it the future. Even though, there will be many miserable things in our life, we can easily pass it if we are willing to work hard. Similarly, a rich man can never become successful without a hard work.

On the other hand, luck is something that is unreliable. If we do depend on luck, then our life would be like hanging by a thin thread, how dangerous life would be then. As we can see, nowadays people are likely to rely on their luck. Instead of working hard, gambling such as lottery is becoming increasingly played in our community. We cannot deny the fact that there is on one become richer by gambling. So it is better for us to start working hard and focus more on our main concern.

To recapitulate, a hard work is the key to success. A notion of luck would be unbelievable and impossible. There is no man who achieves successful without making effort on the work. Therefore, there is no doubt why we should work hard in order to

Luck has always been a word that can stir up a debate on whether or not it exists. Some people believe luck exists and there’s nothing you can do to change your failure or success. Yet there are others that believe the actions you partake in to reach many opportunities will determine success or failure. Personally I agree with the following notion by Oprah Winfrey that says “luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.” My reasons for agreeing are because the actions you take will always determine your outcome and preparation is a great factor when faced with any and all opportunities.…

Some people believe that fate determines everything that happens in your life. While others believe that your hard work is what makes you successful. Which one is right? Two authors, Emily Dickinson and Malcolm Gladwell have the same statement, but which one better states that “How much of our lives do we actually control?” Emily wrote a poem that is called “Luck is not chance” this poem states that you have to work hard to be successful. Gladwell takes the same side as Emily, but Gladwell’s stronger evidence leads people to believe that he is better at proving the question “How much of our lives do we actually control?”…

It is possible to be born into a successful family, but it is not possible to be born successful. The responsibility of being successful falls greatly upon me as an individual. While others can give an opinion, theory, or share their beliefs it is ultimately up to me to make my own decisions. At most I can adopt someone’s beliefs, I can imitate their actions, or even mimic their behaviors, but no one else is responsible for what happens in my life. It is up to me to put forth the hard work and dedication to reach the level of success that I desire. It is my personal responsibility to choose the path for my life and I choose success.…

Luck is something that almost everyone experiences. To experience it more, however, one must work harder. According to the online dictionary, luck is a combination of circumstances, events, etc, operating by chance to bring good or ill to a person. Abraham Lincoln once said “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” There is a lot of truth in his statement. The better one prepares oneself for a task, the more likely luck will grace him. For example, in the most recent Summer Olympic Games, there were two races when Michael Phelps, known for the seven gold medals he collected in swimming, won by a total of nine hundredths of a second ' one race by just a hundredth. Some critics call it luck. Others even call it divine intervention. Logically speaking, it was the result of all the hard work he put into his preparation. His performance was not just a fruit of his hard work, but also a fruit of the environment in which he trained in. True, he is a very talented swimmer, but his skill was honed also because the environment where he trained. The training environment he and his teammates had was a luxury not available to most of his opponents. It is also a benefit of the economic success of his country.…

Every goal we list isn't just a dream, we will sacrifice everything in order to achieve it, and every obstacle we overcome, strengths our expectations in succeeding. Through every step, we question our luck, some of us fail and when they do, the only excuse they give is "bad luck". In my opinion, luck does exist but it won't play a huge roll in us if we worked hard enough.…

To serve, as it does, to convince those with lack of motivation, or perhaps imagination, to remain stagnant with the hope that chance will smile upon them, the concept of luck is a farce. This is a truism that successful people understand. In fact, most successful people will state this truth almost as a proverb. For example, Oprah Winfrey has been quoted as saying, “Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.” Oprah Winfrey has the innate understanding that luck isn’t really luck at all. In fact, luck is the culmination of hard work.…

I for one find myself disagreeing with Mr. Milton. As opposed to how it was hundreds of years ago, luck is a different concept in today’s time. Today, luck is a concept that can only be applied to the top one percent also known as the wealthiest people of America. People in the middle and working classes all work for the opportunities that they are given; luck has no determination on who gets what. In my personal experience, my family has had to work for everything that we own, and we have never seen “luck” in effect. I fully understand what Mr. Milton was trying to say, and he is not wrong entirely. Milton believed that when a plan is designed well enough luck comes out of the planning, and everything falls into place. However, not everything will fall perfectly into place every time. Things will fall through and fail, and you have no choice but to pick yourself back up and keep pushing through the obstacles. I have observed over the past couple of years that people have become too dependent on luck for results instead of working for them. This is a similar situation that my current classmates and I are going through currently. Too many of my classmates will depend on luck and chance to get them the same opportunities as someone with a college degree, despite not going to get one themselves. This is why I will get a Bachelor’s degree and…

Everyone can find success in their life. Stephen Hawking believes that “However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.” In short, one’s success is not only measured by large achievements, like graduating from school and obtaining a job, but the small achievements as well, such as waking up in the morning and walking the dog. Therefore, people can always find success…

Success is recognition for some people and recognition comes with good work. They may not have earned money but they have earned respect. An example of this would be Mahatma Gandhi or Mother Teresa, people see them as successful not because they earned a lot of money but because they were recognized for their good work. Another example is Dalai Lama, he is not rich but he is successful.…

Another may feel as if their hard work paid off. Preparing to do something typically is done with an end goal in mind, and luck is random. An example of this is; I submitted my resume online looking for a job. I got an e-mail for a highly profitable company with the most ideal position, that I did not qualify for, yet they offered me a job. I did not prepare for the job, nor did I have the proper education, but I was lucky enough to get the offer without being prepared. If I had the proper education for the position, I wouldn't feel lucky, I would feel like the education paid off the way I intended it to. So, is the opportunity where luck comes…

The magic of hard work and perseverance cannot be underestimated. We see in general that people who have succeeded in life have done an immense amount of hard work and their success is we all see, but the effort put in, we fail to measure. We do wonder how he could achieve so much, but it is absolutely certain that achievement has come his way after much of continued effort. Most of us do make efforts but, soon lose heart and leave our projects and this is why we fail to reach the pinnacle of success. It must be clear in our minds that, we never can achieve with just a simple raising of a finger, we have got to put our heart and soul in a particular job and that also with continued vigour in every attempt then only we can hope for any success. Those of us who leave effort midway are obviously left midway by success also, and then we are disheartened and broke, just to ogle jealously at those who have succeeded. If we have the confidence in our effort, there is nothing that can deter us from…
