Hardships
I was born, raised in Bangladesh and I came to the United States last year for the first time in my life. Growing up in a developing country wasn't easy, often we had to face challenges to tackle poverty. After all, politics was always there in every system so things would get out of control very often and undeserving people would get a shot at the prize. I was born into an underprivileged family in Bangladesh. My parents never had any college degree. I was the first person in my family to ever go to college.
During my high school years, my mother was diagnosed with uterus cancer. As my family was poor, it was difficult for my father to run my family. My mother had to be admitted to hospital for her medical support. Moreover, we didn’t have

Apparently, it is very difficult to study full time and work at the same time. I do not think the financial issue should be a barrier on my path to success. I have always dreamed big, but the latter also came with lots of consequences. However, I realized if I could tackle the consequences then I can have a bright future ahead. Texts books are expensive and without textbooks, it gets very difficult for me to follow my teacher's lecture and do well in the class. I try to go to the LaGuardia’s library and use all the resources as much as I can. However, sometimes I do not get enough time to use the library and at times, they do not have the book for 3 days or 14 days’ loan. Therefore, I could only use the book for 2 hours, which is not enough for me to get a good in-depth knowledge. Moreover, it really is not possible for me to use the library every day because of my tight schedule. On top of that, I have spent the majority of my money on paying my spring 17(session 1) semester tuition which was around $5000 and spring 17(Session II) which was around $1300. In addition, transportation cost is also another factor that I am trying to overcome. I strive to save money as much as possible to pay for metro cards. Sometimes, I feel very frustrated when I save money by not eating my breakfast and lunch just because I want to go to college regularly. During the class hour, I barely get enough energy to focus and concentrate on my teacher’s lecture as I did not eat anything. It is getting very difficult for me to continue my education without the scholarship and I will be trying heart and soul to get some amount of scholarship from my school with my hard work and tenacity. Last but not the least, receiving the financial assistance will allow me to continue my education without dropping out of classes. It will help me to use time more wisely and be more productive instead of working at a minimum wage

An event which helped me realize this was the death of my grandpa who lived in Ukraine where my family is originally from. The amount of times I had seen the man I could count on my fingers. This had taught me a very valuable lesson, to be as close with my elders as I can because they aren’t getting any younger. This opened up my eyes to a vast amount of information coming from those who had seen it all. I accredit much of my success to my family members who have provided much inspiration. The event which had influenced me the most had to be almost losing my only blood brother. He is my best friend and I am thankful every day that he is alive.…

Today, many students are beginning to work while in college. Over the past few years, tuition, room and board, and other school expenses have become more and more expensive. There are many types of financial aid available, such as loans, government grants, and scholarships that could help me pay for my college education. However, some of us are not lucky enough to receive “free money” from the government or a scholarship. For people like me who need to take out a loan in order to get through college, a job is necessary to make the monthly payments. I recently started my first semester in college to hopefully major in business administration in a couple years. I also got myself a part-time job managing finances at my brother’s body shop to pay for some expenses and carry some extra money. Through my experiences combining work and college, I have noticed there are many struggles, great ways to manage those struggles, and great benefits,…
