Harry S. Truman Only one president has ever been elected for times. During his fourth term he died in office and the greatest president, Harry S. Truman, took over presidency.Truman had an average family and he was in the senate. He started his Presidency on April 12, 1945. In addition to many of his accomplishments, he also declared war on North Korea.
Harry S. Truman was the eldest of three kids. He had a sister named Mary Jane Truman and a brother named John Vivian Truman. John A. Truman and Martha E. Truman were his parents. The S. in his name is from his grandfathers’ Solomon Young and Anderson Shipp Truman. Harry S. Truman adored playing the piano and he practiced two hours everyday before school. Roosevelt’s vice-president in 1944, replacing Henry A. Wallace. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman gained 53 percent of the votes. He did not know that Roosevelt was very sick. Franklin D. Roosevelt died due to cerebral hemorrhage on April 12, 1945. Truman was sworn into office the same day as Roosevelt’s death and said, “ The moon, the stars, and all the planets had fallen” -Harry S. Truman. On his first day, he traveled to San Francisco to make a treaty for the United Nations to arrange Germany’s surrender and traveled to Potsdam for a meeting with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin. While in Potsdam, Truman was notified about a successful atomic bomb drop, and he demanded Japan to surrender but Japan refused. Two atomic bombs were then dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th and Nagasaki on August 9th. In 1949 Harry S. Truman won a second term as president. He was then noticed for managing an investigation into waste and fraud in the U.S military in his second term.

For example, he did not appeal to congress to drop two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.Which ultimately caused the surrender of Japan.
