Truman's political career started in the 1920’s when he ran for County-Judge in Jackson County. When he ran
for reelection, he lost, but in 1926 he tried again and was elected presiding Judge, he held that title till he ran for senator. He was elected part of the senate in 1934, he helped allocate tax money for F.D.R.’s “New Deal Projects”. He ran for reelection and shortly before that Thomas Pendergast was convicted of tax evasion and associated with voter fraud. Because Roosevelt had been associated with him, so many people thought he would’ve lost because of the association but he pulled through using his good reputation. Truman kept rising in the ranks of politics and in 1944 F.D.R choose Truman to be his vice president candidate. They won the election and Truman took the oath of office on January 20, 1945.
