Harvard's Haaccia Persuasive Speech

Standing alone in the conference room, 353 kilometers from where I belonged, I strived to ignore the loudspeakers announcing that the award ceremony for Harvard’s HACIA Democracy debate was about to begin in mere minutes. While I compulsively checked the time on my phone, I could clearly hear the swath of more than three hundred delegates from all over the continent marching across the wide hall of the Hotel Real Continental in San José, Costa Rica. They were all anxious and nervous, hoping to win a coveted award. I paced across that room, asking myself “What is your problem dealing with success? Why can’t you be comfortable in victory?” All my life, it was never enough; I was never satisfied with my accomplishments.
