Health records are used by being stored in the computer base. The duties are to take information from the physical chart and input into the secure computer.
2 years associates degree in science in health information technology. Certificate Technicians have a better chance of landing the job. Some companies require experience in the field for at least 2 years.
I have seen only one organization that is for health record specialist is an Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) Is in a professional society in the practice of the field.
The work environment is in a private or public medical office where the health records specialist will organize and check coding in a secure data base on the computer.
