Workplace Communication I currently work for a health care organization that follows the formal organizational model. “Formal organizations are generally understood to be systems of coordinated and controlled activities that arise when work is embedded in complex networks of technical relations and boundary-spanning exchanges” (Meyer & Rowan, 1977, p. 340). “The formal organizational model structure shows the relationship between authority and the subordinate” (Schatz, 2012, paragraph 2). This structure shows how the work within the organization is divided, the relationships within the organization, how communication occurs, positions within the organization that report to a common manager, and the different layers of management within the organization – from the top to the bottom. As the classroom text points out, with formal structure, there is usually an informal structure. They draw the subtle lines between employees and whom they work with. Unlike the formal structure that moves from top to bottom, the informal structure moves throughout the team, from side to side, and across all levels from management to entry level positions.

It stands for “Process Improvement and Development System”. Employees have access to an online form through the organizations intranet, where they are able to submit suggestions for improvement, introduce new ideas, and report problems with current processes. When a “PIDS” is submitted, the employee has the option of identifying himself or herself or staying anonymous. This information is then sent to upper management, including the employees manager, the department director, and if applicable, the Vice President of the department, for

When it comes to installing Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, there are many different server roles that this software operating system has to offer. The first one is Active Directory Certificate Services and Active Directory Domain Services. Active Directory is a huge component when it comes to a server. This service has all the information about all of the users, the computers, and any other device that is connected to the network. The Active Directory assists IT professionals with being able to manage all of this information, and allows them to be able to facilitate any sharing that is going on between any end user in the company. Another role is the Active Directory Federation Services. This lets users have a web sign in capability, that lets users authenticate to different web applications by just logging in with one single user account. Another role that this has is the application server. This is a major role because the server can be used to hose and manage all of the critical business applications that the company needs to use. One major component also is the DHCP server, which the Windows Server does play a huge role in. The DHCP server is what assigns an IP address to any machine that is connecting to the network. This is critical because if the machine can’t get an IP address, then they won’t be able to communicate with the network. Along with the DHCP server, another role is the capability of being the fax server. This is self-explanatory, the fax server allows the company to send and receive faxes, and also allows IT personnel to be able to manage these jobs, or any settings or reports that are needed to be shown. Another major role is file services. The server basically holds all of the companies information, or software shares, so that when there is the need for a new install, or an employee needs a new piece…

I have identified that there are some differences and similarities among small, medium, and large facilities with the organization of patient files and the handling of loose reports. I have spotted between the small, medium, and large facilities they all like their loose files to be permanently anchored in the charts. There was a few that went by what their policy and procedures were and by group decision. Most facilities like their reports to be permanently anchored in the patients charts at all times. Having charts permanently anchored would seem to make more sense to me so that paper work would not be misplaced. The small, medium, and large facilities deal with the organization of patients files differently. Some facilities have their charts structured by form numbers, chronological, report type, categories, and by most recent. I believe that the organization of the patient's charts is on based what the facility or doctor would like better. If the doctor wants the charts organized by report type or by categories then that is how it is done in that facility. The same procedure goes for the handling of loose reports; it is all based on what that facility prefers or what the doctor prefers. Looking through the interview thread I have noticed that there are a lot of similarities in all three types of facilities, but a lot of distinctions as well. I believe that each facility has their own way of doing things to make it easier for their office to run. Each facility has their own way of managing patient records. There can be similarities and differences throughout each different facility. Furthermore, to place patient files on data disk is ideal to eliminate storage space…

Invidious comparison is comparing oneself to others by race, sex, religion, or class. Such comparison could lessen one's self esteem. How can we put a stop to this? The first step is to understand and accept differences. No two people are alike and there will always be someone smarter, stronger, more attractive, thinner, or wealthier. We must acknowledge our strengths and other strengths and stop dwelling on weaknesses. Count what you have and not what you don’t have. Be OK with imperfection and work on goals to improve yourself.…
