Fitness testing for sport and exercise
Unit overview
The purpose of this unit is to introduce students to the concepts of fitness testing and health screening. It is paramount the students develop the skills and experience which will allow them to carry out fitness tests. You will need to expose them to a variety of fitness tests to enhance their practical awareness. In addition they will also develop the skills and knowledge which will allow them to analyse test results. They will be expected to give feedback to the individuals based on results, which will concentrate on strengths and areas for improvement. Therefore there should be a session prior to this, which introduces the students to these terms before they are expected to apply them to specific tests. In terms of feedback to the students based on their answers this may also form a significant part of a lesson.

Poster design – the press and sit up test
Week 6
This poster can be used as an icebreaker within the group to match students up with other group members. You can extend the task by getting the more able students to look at the advantages and disadvantages of these tests.
