Reflect on your presentations by critically analysing and reviewing your own learning experience and that of your participants. In other words, what did you learn from this experience of facilitating learning and what will you do differently next time?

The learning event provided me with an opportunity to apply some on the presentation in the classroom. I will reflect on this experience by highlighting the key learning achieved and links to my current academic practice.
The presentation was a health campaign that I chose to do on kidney disease. My initial idea was to develop materials to communicate relevant context. The underpinning approach taken for my learning event relates to Kolb’s experimental learning cycle. This concrete experience was central to the design of the session and there was also an opportunity for the group to reflect on and share thoughts about their experience. (Reflective observation). This reflection was observed from my peer evaluation form.
Reflecting on the success of the learning facilitation, I can identify that the learning materials developed and presented to my peers were successful. One of my peer group commented that the information I used in the body of my presentation was very good and easy to follow; this suggests that I had written the content in an appropriate way which facilitate learning. I also believe that my voice clarity was good and the participants were able to hear me well.
However, reflecting on the aspects of learning that could be enhanced next time, I would develop on the part where I should step in and fill in the ‘ quiet times ‘ by giving participants more opportunities to share views and ask them questions. I would draw on the feedback received from my peer evaluation form and my own reflections to make the following changes: I will include a more formal reflective discussion at the end of the session to encourage reflection on the learning and by doing so I will be able to engage the participants more firmly.
Overall I would say that learning facilitation took place but will definitely think of improving on the missing points suggested above.
