(fyffes.com) Plant based foods attack and destroy viruses, bacteria and cancers. Health is based on the amount of nutrition we provide our bodies. The immune system is our greatest defense against disease. Simple lifestyle tools like positive attitude and plant-based organic food, as well as movement and exercise, strengthen the anatomy. It is best to avoid pre packaged, pre heated, ready made, and ready to heat convenience foods. (Clement)
Fruit and vegetables are better off to be eaten when in season because they are cheaper and because the grower doesn’t use as much chemicals when in season. I have also discovered the relationship food has with asthma and how food can help people control their asthma or how it can cause asthma attacks.
The importance of this in my professional and personal development is that as an asthma sufferer I am now knowledgeable about what foods I can eat and which foods I should avoid. If I eat the correct food on a daily basis my health and well being will be improved. I am also aware of the foods which should be served to people in a restaurant as a chef I am responsible if they request a certain dietry/ allergic requirement.
My research has met my expectations in relation to triggers, causes and what happens ones breathing. I did not know about certain foods such as dairy and convienece foods to be problematic.
My recommendations in regards to this topic are to increase the awareness of the good and bad food for asthma sufferers. I strongly believe that the Irish Government should revise our food pyramid and include the daily fluid intake and exercise which everybody, not just asthma sufferers but the whole nation need to do to maintain good health and well

In our society, malnutrition and under-nutrition is a rising problem for the older adult population. Approximately 35%-85% of residents living in a long-term care facility, 60% of hospitalized older adults, and an estimate of 5%-10% of older adults living in community settings are malnourished (Maher and Eliadi, n.d.). These statistics sadly show that hospitalized and long-term care patients are more likely to become under nourished compared to the elderly population in the community. According to the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI, 2007),…
