Health Fair Presentation Analysis
The Health Fair Presentation project was one of my favorite assignments so far in my college career. I have never really been a fan of group projects because there is rarely an even work distribution; and being the student that I am, I usually end up doing the most work. However, this was not the case in my groups project. We all did a fairly even amount of work. Our group started out with four people, which is already a smaller group compared to some other, and one student dropped the course half way into the project so we ended up doing our project in a group of three. There were five jobs to split up and we all picked up the slack to make sure the project was done on time, and done well. The five roles we had in the making of our Health

Another problem is that some members of the group will not get their work done on time to allow another group member to start working on theirs. Sometimes some work in required before a different part of the project can be started. If the person in charge of the work prior does not get it completed it would delay beginning the next part.…

What worked well for us was taking control of the assignment and the "get-it-done" attitude we adopted once we began communicating. We were able to assign team members different parts to work on, and each was posted in time and was put together well. The best was when one person took all the postings and as able to put it all together and edit the project.…

I remember a time in school when we had to do a project with a team of classmates. We were supposed to come up with an idea for a business and set up everything about the business such as the name, type of business, how it would be managed and so on. There were four students in the group and we were able to get many different ideas about what type of business we should have and what the names would be. Each person was able to be in charge of different parts of assignment, and that way no one was required to do a large amount of work in a set time. Although we did get an A, there were some failures as well. Some students in the group were more willing to give input and weren’t afraid to speak up about their ideas. Others had to be pushed for ideas and tended to go along with what the others thought was a good decision even if they might not have agreed. Even when it was time to divvy of the work, there were discrepancies. I particularly didn’t like the idea of giving each person something different to do, only because some in the group didn’t really care about the project as much as others and I felt they weren’t trying their best on their part. It might have been better in my opinion to work…

Groups may be defined in many ways, indeed providing an absolute definition of a group, as with much of the theory around group work, is highly problematic and contestable. However for the purposes of discussing groupwork within a context of working with young people we may define a group as a small gathering of young people. Group work may simplistically be described as the study and application of the processes and outcomes experienced when a small group comes together.…

In my opinion, group work is a type of cooperative learning that helps people to accomplish a certain task in a faster and more effective manner. Team working also helps to achieve the tasks that are impossible to finish by one individual. However, if people in a group have a lot of conflicts, group work will not be able to achieve as much as we expected. There are many reasons which lead to dissatisfaction in group work such as individualism as well as conflicts in opinion and time.…

Teamwork was a part of my undergraduate degree. A specific example of a teamwork challenge that I faced was the annual robotic competition. The team was polarized on the subject of the mechanism design. Given time and resource constraints it would not have been possible to allow sub groups to pursue individual projects. The problem was eventually resolved by adopting a design in line with the project objects and which was realizable within the limited time period with budget. As a team leader I filled in the role of a facilitator and kept the team on track in meeting the deliverables. I also ensured that each member got a fair share of participation and could contribute equally since the project was crucial for every engineering student and each of us was there to learn. The effort was successful as the team emerged the 5th best team amongst 50 other participating teams.…

Even before this assignment was introduced, I was fully aware that this class was to be mainly focused on community health promotions and the importance of it. I was aware that we were going to learn about the fundamentals of health promotion and how it was done in different parts of the world. But what I wasn’t aware of was that the entire class was to partake in promoting good health in our own community via the Health Fair! When the assignment was first introduced, my initial thinking was that working in groups was something I personally never really favored in the past. Then there was the actual interaction with the community, specifically those who are at the flea market. I have been to the flea market before and I was particularly worried about the language barrier since most of those who go to the flea market were Spanish speakers; let alone none of our team members had any Spanish background other than basic high school training. Not only this, but the whole idea of promoting good health to a community with only over a month’s worth of preparation and learning health promotions from scratch was all a bit too overwhelming for me. Normally, this would have been the kind of class I would have dropped right away. I’m glad I didn’t because the Health Fair was definitely an experience I would never forget.…

The challenges of the health fair we faced was meeting times and not enough people to teach the material too. The first challenge was meeting with our group to go over the making of our tri-fold. Our group found it difficult to find days and times to meet that worked with everyone’s schedule. We eventually were able to come up with times to meet and discuss the project. Another, challenge of the health fair that we faced was that there wasn’t a lot of people there at the thrift shop. We had to really attract or get the people to come to our booth and let us teach them about nutrition and BMI. The people who we did get to bring over to our table weren’t that interested in what we were teaching them. So we tried to find ways to make nutrition…

I have not specifically worked on a “coding project” in a group setting, but I have worked with a group to solve a coding task. During my research experience at Washington University in St. Louis, I worked with two other undergraduates to improve the efficiency of the machine learning algorithm built into the educational software Looking Glass. As a team we worked to improve the efficiency of their Python based code, and ultimately increased the percent efficiency of their machine learning output from 67% to…

Regarding the actual presentation, it was obvious that our planning was not very good. Some material was missing, and we had to run around last minute to gather what was left. My teammates were stressing out because they weren't ready at all, but being used to doing things last minute, I think that managed pretty well to take charge of the group project to get what was needed and to lead the actual presentation, which surprised me. I am not a very good public speakers, in fact I don't like standing in front of a class and talking, but I found that during this project,…
