Expository Essay

One can benefits by eating healthy to maintain a healthier body simply by eating the proper foods. Eating the proper foods will help increase one’s energy levels just by eating the right nutrients to help one’s body function properly. Nutrients in one’s body will offer other health benefits as well. For example, eating fruits and vegetables can prevent and even reduce health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, strokes just to name a few. According to Federal Citizen Information Center (n.d.), “[Evidence shows that some of the leading causes of death in the United States, such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, some lung diseases, injuries, and HIV/AIDS, often can be prevented by improving personal health habits. Eating right, staying physically active, and not smoking are a few examples of good habits that can help you stay healthy]” (What You Can Do to Stay Healthy, para. 1). If one does not receive the proper nutrients for their body, one will run the risk of having problems due to unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise. As a result one may run the chance of having increased weight gain even diseases.
As one grows older their body becomes weaker. To stay strong and healthy one must exercise and maintain a healthy diet. People do not understand the fact that one can control how long they will live just by following a healthy diet along with exercise. The diseases one can have as a result of an improper diet is diabetes, heart disease, obesity, strokes, cancer, high blood pressure, allergies, and premature aging. With exercise and a proper diet all of these diseases can be prevented. Exercise can burn excess calories, insomnia (sleep disorder), and reduce stress levels “[Regular exercise can improve your self-esteem and reduce the effects of stress]” (Nutritious-Cooking.com Wright Way Services, 2007). With exercise and a proper healthy diet one’s body can function on an optimal level.
