Effective communication is a central part of the work that happens in a care settings will need to develop a range of communication skill and be able to use them effectively to carry out the various aspects of your work a work role.
You will need to be able to communicate with service users, their relatives and colleagues. As well as colleagues from other agencies you should always summarise what the other person has said as a way of checking and conforming your understanding of what they mean. Using empathy to try understanding the other person’s point of view or the way they might be affected by what your are saying to them. Good eye contact and appropriate body language make communication more effective. Being respectful, consistent in your approach, and patient in the way you listen and respond to people in your work setting, will encourage them to trust and communicate with you. if you have effective communication it also helps build up relasionships within ,if communication is not effective ,it will effect all aspects of your work within the setting it and will create a bad atmosphere between yourself and staff you will not know what to do in your care setting.
