Introduction
The purpose of this experiment was to find out whether males or females of the same fitness levels had a higher increase in heart rate after performing the same exercise in the same amount of time. The hypothesis was that, with the same levels of fitness, females would have a higher heart rate. The main reason that this hypothesis was thought to be viable, was because females generally have higher heart rates than males due to their smaller heart size. The female heart’s smaller size results in a higher heart rate because, to get the same amount of blood pumping through the body, the heart needs to compensate the size with a faster heart rate.
