An example of an unhelpful manager that I have had would be my previous supervisor, Or as I like to refer to him as “Mr. Personality”. The only thing that appeared to matter was “did the work get done today?” Not so much of the nurturing type (professionally, and personally speaking). He did not seem to care if anyone in his group advanced in their career, or made anything of themselves. Don’t get me wrong, he was not the type to sit back and bark orders. He knew he had a good group working for him and the work would get done in a timely manner and with the utmost quality. But helpful he was not. I believe the only thing that mattered to him was how good his group could make him look in day to day activities. Which seems like a very selfish attitude to have as being in a supervisory / managerial position. While working under this
