Thoreau was even comfortable with the solitude when it rained or snowed and he couldn’t go outside. The rain prevented Thoreau from his hard laboring in the fields, but it didn’t affect his alone time. Henry sometimes thought he was better than some guys because he was a hard working laborer. Some of Thoreau’s happiest times was when it rained. He had more time to write when bad weather caged him in the house. His thoughts had more time to get exposed when he was relaxed. Henry thought being alone was healthy. He felt being around some of the world’s best writers could sometime be irritating and boring. Thoreau never had anyone or anything that could compare to him being alone. He felt better being alone. His life was better when he was alone. Henry felt he could reach his full potential being by himself. Nowadays a lot of people are in relationships, but they still feel lonely. Thoreau didn’t want to hide being lonely. Even though he wasn’t afraid of being lonely. He wanted people to know that if people keep themselves busy they wouldn’t feel lonesome. Thoreau was friendly with all the seasons. He enjoyed doing everything alone no matter what it was. He even bathe alone in the pond. The water washed all the dirt of labor from him. Henry did things that reminded himself why he liked the solitude so much. He walked to the village when he had time. Gossiping was all he heard whenever he returned to the village. He didn’t like hearing gossip. Thoreau knew he had different beliefs and habits than those in the village. Henry didn’t think solitude meant being alone or lonely. He thought solitude meant having time alone to explore your own religion, thoughts, or feelings. Thoreau thought of nature as his friend if he ever got lonely. Natured always cheered him up even as a kid. He thought people was more alone when they was around the company of other people. Thoreau liked having the company of a much older man that lived near him. Sometimes when Thoreau was fishing the older man would join him to talk about the older days. Henry didn’t talk to the older guy a lot, but he was entertained by his stories. Solitude made Thoreau feel like he was in his own little world which is the way he preferred it.
