Hercules 13th Labor Analysis
Hercules was living happily with Hebe for a couple of years after doing his twelve labors. He was eating a lot and constantly drinking too much Ambrosia, not heeding Zeus’ warnings.. He started to think that everyone was beneath him. Hera soon realized this and decided that Hercules was not at all like he used to be. He was not humble, nor caring and she thought her daughter deserved better. She gave him a 13th Labor. Hercules’ 13th Labor was the hardest one of all: Stopping his father from fooling around with pretty maidens. At first Hercules refused, claiming that Hera was joking and giving him an impossible task. Hera then threatened to take away his strength and Hercules soon realized she was serious. At first Hercules went up to his father and asked if he could stop fooling around with other pretty maidens. Unsurprisingly Zeus refused. He called Hercules a fool. He told Hercules to leave his home immediately and when Hercules refused Zeus made him a deal. If he could beat his father in a fight, Zeus would stop fooling around with other maidens. Zeus was just saying this because he knew that Hercules would never beat him in a fight but to Zeus’ surprise Hercules accepted. …show more content…
Hercules was determined to defeat his father and keep his strength. They both had a lot on the line. Zeus had his dignity and Hercules had his strength. After two centuries Zeus was tempted to give up. If only he could go back to his throne and have some Ambrosia. He started wondering if this was really worth it. He already had Hera. Did he really need other maidens? All he wanted was a sip of ambrosia and he decided that it was worth it. He gave up and promised to stop fooling around with other maidens. After this Hera finally decided that Hercules was worthy to be with
