Heroes
HEROES - HOW THEY INFLUENCE OUR LIVES
WHAT IS A HERO?
A hero is someone of moral excellence who is looked up to and admired by others
Heroes mean different things to different people but
TRUE heroes have one extraordinary thing in common - a firm sense of right and wrong, good values and morals and the strength of character to live by that.
True heroes are heroic in both their personal and public lives and are the people who will be remembered for their positive influence in the lives of others.
To me a hero is someone who encourages and inspires you to stretch yourself and strive to reach goals by developing your talents.
No-one is born a hero - they become heroes by how they live and what they achieve and in so doing they become role models for others.

She is an ordinary person just like you and I who set herself the goal of running the Comrades.
She went on not only to complete it 11 times - but also won 2 pure gold medals.
She came 3rd in 1989 and won in 1990 in a time of 7 hours - as a non-professional sportswoman
Was she always a runner? No
Was it easy? Defn not
Did she suffer injuries and disappointments but still persevere? Yes
Did she put in many hours of training? Most certainly
Did she always feel like training? No
Did she quit when times were tough? No
Did she encourage and giude others? Yes. There are still people today who look up to her for the contribution she made in their lives - sporting and personal
WHY? Because she knew and accepted that you won't reach your potential and achieve your goals -no matter how talented you are- if you don't put in the effort and work hard at it.
She was also unselfish and
