For example, Frederick Douglass was a role model for others abolitionists. When he first escaped slavery, he said, “the idea of speaking to white people weighed me down” (SB pg 72). However, as he learned of all that he could do for others, he soon became, “engaged in pleading the cause of my brethren” (SB pg 72). Douglass fought for others even when he himself was trying to overcome his personal struggle of talking to white people. He showed others that you can overcome your personal problems to help others. There are many other causes that heroes fight for as well. For example, Malala Yousafzai fought for female education in Pakistan. She felt that, “When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful”. Malala Yousafzai knew that someone needed to stand up for women’s education so she led others to stand up as well.
