When there are big events going on in Ames, expect a packed house at Hickory Park. It is known as “the place to be”. Established in 1970, it has been one of the necessities to visit in Ames. Not only does Hickory Park offer food in its restaurant, it also offers catering services and a banquet facility for special occasions. Hickory Park restaurant definitely won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Service is a very popular element in a casual dining restaurant. During my experience, the service turned out to be pretty good. If I had to give it a number between one being terrible and ten being terrific, I would give it an eight. When I visited Hickory Park, I was with my high school speech group, which had about 15 people in it. That weekend, like usual, Ames was hosting the large group all-state speech festival. This draws in a ton of people to Ames. Hickory Park is where everyone wants to eat; and I mean everyone! So like I expected, we had to wait outside for about 30 minutes because the restaurant was full. I know that there is not much they can do about the restaurant being full.
