as Shannon Mumm from the TH was on the other end of the phone.
Shannon asked, "How did it feel hitting your first high school home run?"
"I've never hit a home run over the fence before, so that felt very good.
I'm definitely not known for being a home run hitter." I answered.
Shannon replied, "How many years have you been playing baseball?"
"I have been playing travel baseball the past six or seven years. I also played varsity basketball last year as a freshman so the transition to varsity baseball has been very smooth for me." I said.
Shannon then asked, "Do you plan on playing baseball in college?"
I responded excitingly, "I would love to play baseball as long as I can, but right now I'm just focused on this season. There's a definite possibility that we can make it to state, and that's the main focus right now."
I was very excited and happy that all of my hard work in the batting cages and at practice was finally starting to pay off. I knew that I had to remain humble and keep working hard to be successful. My parents have molded me into the person I am today and I knew that I couldn't use this spotlight as an excuse to quit working hard. Our goal as a team was to make it to the state tournament. We ended up losing in the first round of sub-state. Losses and moments like that leave you with a feeling that you never want to feel again. I was determined to work hard to never get that feeling again and I am very excited for what is still to
come.
