Likewise, the dress code at the high school is almost non-existent. Which means, we are allowed to wear the clothes we like. Such as, shorts, ripped jeans, and tank tops. At the middle school we aren't allowed to wear jeans with holes in them, which I do not particularly like. Not having to be worried about the dress code is something i'm looking forward to.
Furthermore,
the BOYD policy at the high school is less strict. You are allowed to go on your device more throughout the day. I like this because you can be on it at lunch and if something bad were to happen, you would have your phone and be able to inform parents and guardians that you are safe. In the middle school our phones have to be in our lockers and off through the day or unless you are in a BYOD class. Also, sometimes it is easier to do projects and type essays on the device because it is right there and you don’t have to wait for computers or wait to go the computer room or library.
Comparatively, I am looking forward to having more freedom. Here we have strict rules, which isn’t always a bad thing, but sometimes they are a little too dramatic. At the high school, there are still rules, of course, but they are not as stern. For instance, at lunch we will be able to do a lot more than now, and not have to worry about teachers hovering over us and listening in on our conversations. Also, we will not have to worry about the teachers that watch you and wait for you to do something they don’t like, just to get you in trouble.
I am excited about many things the high school has to offer, the lenient dress code, the permissive BYOD policy and the freedom we will have.Even though it may be a little scary, I think it will all be fine in the end. Just like the middle school, the high school has many ups and downs. Overall when you level everything out, the high school isn’t as bad as you think and i am more than happy to be going.
