His statements are an expression of the Truth of Being; and they could be stated without reservation by any person, at any time, regardless of the condition of their body. The purpose of such an affirmation is not to give direction to the healing power of Life, but to realize the truth about our life, a truth that is unconditionally true. This affirmation is a fine example of what he always taught:
“We enter the Absolute in such degree as we withdraw from the relative. The Bible tells us not to count our enemies. It is not easy, is it, to turn from a disease and KNOW THAT THERE IS NO DISEASE, when we know very well that it is an experience of the moment. This is not easy, but the one who can do just this, can heal.” [Science of Mind, pg. 315] He specifically points out an often over-looked quality of an affirmation.
“You will notice that there no particular discomfort was named. You have not sled for anything. You have been trying to realize what you already are. This or a similar meditation should be used often during any period of illness. The big job you have to do is to convince yourself of your natural perfection.”

… The requirement is that you understand and obey the Law of infinite Mind. Whatever you believingly declare into Mind, and on which you act accordingly, is manifest in your affairs.”
The Basic Ideas of Science of Mind, pg. 83
Freedom is the ability to choose the principles by which one directs the conduct of their life. Freedom is not a matter of being in control of Life or one’s affairs. We do not have control; we have a choice. We do not choose our destination; we make choices that set our direction in life. We do not choose what we reap; we choose what to sow. We do not choose the consequences of our choices; nevertheless, every choice we make comes with unforeseen consequences, as well as those we have anticipated. We may think that when choosing a cause we are choosing an effect, but little do we know of the full effect of our choices. Unfortunately, ignorance of the effect will not excuse anyone from the consequences of their choices and their actions. Not knowing the future has never excused anyone from living with what each day brings. There is a Law involved, a principle of correspondence, which does not allow for control, but with which we may
