With this act in place it also added another aspect of national security and that was the domestic security side, one that was sometimes overlooked but plays a massive role in today’s national security. Today’s ideas of homeland security have evolved into preventing all terrorist attacks, help aid with national disasters, battling the cyber war, dealing with the thousands of illegal immigrants and of course diseases. (Security, 2010). Homeland security is not just one group of people, it is an enterprise of multiple divisions and agencies that all assist in these matters. All of these smaller agencies that make up the DHS are on different levels; the Federal, State, local, tribal, and territorial, as well as within the private sector and between and among all of these entities for the full range of homeland security purposes. The main concept of the NIPP is to build a safer, more secure, and more resilient America by preventing, deterring, neutralizing, or mitigating the effects of deliberate efforts by terrorists to destroy, incapacitate, or exploit elements of our Nation’s CIKR and to strengthen national preparedness, timely response, and rapid recovery of CIKR in the event of an attack, natural disaster, or other emergency. (Security U. D.,2009) There are eight different department that make up the NIPP, they are responsible for its on sector. Inside those eight departments is the Department of Homeland Security is broken up into 5 diffferent sectors which include Office of Infrastructure Protection, Office of Cyber-Security and Communitcations, Transportations Security Administration, TSA Coast Guard and Immigration and Customs Enforcement; Federal Protection Services.
