Homeownership An Equal Opportunity Goal

In the second article called, “Is the 'American Dream” of Homeownership an Equal Opportunity Goal?”, written by Martha Graham Viator and Sara Halper. Within this article it discusses how history with high school students can be frustrating and can have no apparent relevance to them because it doesn’t effect there lives. Once, the idea of the american dream is brought into the picture it makes it easier for students to explore american history. Along with students idea that the american dream is homeownership and along with another dream being to have equal opportunity. So, the main goal of this article is to discover why students believe that both dreams are the american dreams. Then the article goes and breaks down each step starting with
preparation and planning. This step talks about how teachers would want to examine the two arguments and would wan to start categorizing the reason that people would want to have homeownership. The second step was to determine the goals and assessment. The third it to use the assessment with instruction, and ask questions such as what to you plan to do after you finish your education? The final step is to understand the assessment questions from the students. Overall, I believe that this article was most like the research project that we are going to do. I believe this because they go step by step in which they would conduct the research. So, I do think that learned a lot from this academic article, and put some of that information into ours.
