Sexual culture has changed over the past fifty years with the emergence of technology. Rhoads discusses the emergence of hookup culture in today’s society. College students as well as people not on college campuses are seeking out casual sex. The author also compares and contrasts how both men and women feel after their casual sexual encounter. Men often feel happy after a one-night stand whereas women feel vulnerable and unsatisfied. This may have to do with the male to female ratio on college campuses. This ratio determines whether or not sexual desires will be satisfied on the campuses or if students will find another outlet. Women outnumber men on campus; therefore, they must oversexualize themselves to meet the needs of the men they are…

However, one should understand that when sex is introduced in a platonic relationship, things take a different formation or characteristic. In the current world, people rust their friends more than they trust their spouses, family members, or even workmates. In this sense, most of them strive hard not to ruin their friendly relationships. As such, the idea of having sex as friends has been eliminated over the past few years. Women prefer having male friends while men prefer having female friends. In this sense, they are free and safe from deceit, betrayal, and hypocrisy. As to protect such relationships, they shun away from issues such us intimacy, sex, or other issues that may act as destroying factors of their…

“If you're getting rad and there is no one around to see it, are you really getting rad?” (Andy Hayes) This question proposed by Andy Hayes is a tough one to answer, and is one that puzzles skiers and snowboarders across the world. On one hand, you just nailed a totally righteous line that would undoubtedly leave you're alpine counterparts flabbergasted. On the other hand, nobody saw it, and will anybody actually believe your word when you tell them of your incredible feats. Besides for the question of are you getting rad, another must be answered; how rad did you actually get? We can all brag and rant about how amazingly we skied a line, but there must be a quantitative way to prove who got the raddest.…

The most common pathway by which patients can access the TB service includes referrals from GP surgeries, accident and emergency, laboratory microbiology, hospital wards and other hospital specialties such as HIV (Gum clinic), rheumatology and paediatrics. TB services have one designated referral number, fax, email address and contact address. The care pathway for patients who show signs and symptoms of TB will require a number of investigations, which will include a Mantoux Skin test, when a small amount of Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) is injected into the arm and the results will be read 48/72 hours later, a chest x-ray, sputum samples or a bronchoscopy. Once these investigations have been completed and if the results are positive for active TB, the patient will be commenced on TB treatment. People have judged and misunderstood others for as long as humans were on this Earth. People have a nasty habit to think of people who have been lonely and bullied as outsiders, although outsiders are just people who are completely misunderstood and judged the wrong way. If people took the time to know these “outsiders” people mistreat, they would understand that these people are just normal kids that got mistreated badly. Nobody wants to be an “outsider”, but sometimes you become one for various of different reasons like being a new kid, being smarter than most kids, wanting to be alone, and more.…

Immigrants shouldn’t be restricted from coming to the U.S, legally. Illegal immigrants should be deported and we should put more money into our border patrol to enforce our borders. We should have control of who comes into our country and how. A wall would be too expensive and too troublesome, so I think we should just stick with the fences we have now and bulk up our border patrol.…

Vanderkam defines the term hook up as a physical encounter between a guy and a girl for the sole purpose of sexual interaction. Hooking up is not to be confused with dating or any other type of committed relationship. It is simply a one-time thing for one specific goal, satisfaction. Vanderkam even provides a personal example by saying “I have had as many dates in my first 2 months in the real world as I had during my whole college career.” The essay revolves around the college life, not before or after, specifically, in the freshman year.…

Both of these article were well written, in fact who ever reads these two articles will probably learn something new about dating and hooking up. What I liked about both was that they included definitions to several different words. For example in paragraph 15 of Bailey’s piece, sphere means “courtship took place within the girl’s home in-women’s ‘sphere’” (pr15). In Bogles reading she defines the most obvious word being, hooking up. The definition of hooking up is “morally questionable sexual activity” ( Bogle 248). All of these different definition help me…

Nowadays, casual hookups change the way people interact and communicate, which become the popular cultural change throughout the Westernized world. Taken together, Garcia, Reiber, Massey, and Merriwether (2012) discussed different approaches of viewing the topic of sexual hookup culture, whereas Vrangalova and Ong (2014) examined the moderating effect of sociosexuality on four indicators of psychological well-beings and casual sex. Although evolutionary theory explains why hookups are beneficial and valuable to individual, I believe socialization and cultural factor play the most significant role in shaping individual’s behaviors and motivations in casual sex regardless of individual and sex differences.…

My friend’s situation is one of the many results in the outcomes of “friends with benefits” relationships. Most of the times “friends with benefits” relationships never work out, my grandfather told me something when I was younger and I never understood it until I matured. He told me that most men do not want what they already have. There is validity behind his opinion and over my middle and high school years I saw it firsthand. Many of my friends would meet a boy, talk to him for a few weeks in order to “get to know him “and then partake in some type of sexual activity shortly after. I have learned over the years that once a person invests time into getting to know someone they become connected in one way or another. As much as…
