In Horton Hears a Who, Dr. Seuss shows people/animals standing up for each other. In the beginning of the story, Horton tries to protect a race that no one else truly knows about. When the other animals made fun of the Whos, Horton said, “as a favor to me, try not to disturb them. Just please let them be” (Suess # 9). Seuss shows how a character rebels in harsh conditions. In the middle of the story, Mack, a turtle, tried to rebel because of how badly all of the turtles are being treated. “But down at the bottom, we, too, should have rights. We turtles can’t stand it. Our shells will all crack! Besides, we need food. We are starving!” groaned Mack (Suess # 14).
