How College Is Affecting An Individual's Life
There are many things that can affect how people will live their lives. It’s not everyday that you hear that college can’t bring you success, so growing up the most common thing we are told is that we need to go to college to be successful. That it's our only option to a path of success. Now that i'm older I understand that college is an important part of being successful, but it’s not the most important and the only path to get me where I want to go. I believe that yes college is important, but it's not that you can't live a life of success without a degree it’s that college is an easy alternative to get you there.
The Myth that is most commonly told to children now and my current generation is that college is our lives it's like a two way

Adjacent to that the author shows the readers the different experiences in which he learned the lessons that made him appreciate the opportunity to go to college. I agree with the author when he talks about “Factory life has shown me what my future might have been like had I never gone to college in the first place (Braaksma, 2005).” I agree because working a real-world job can help you see how college is possibly a better path to a successful career. I feel this way because of my own experiences working at various jobs over the years. Furthermore, when the author goes deeper into his experiences by saying “All the advice and public-service announcements about the value of an education that used to sound trite now ring true (Braaksma,…

It was the morning of move in day. I said goodbye to my home and headed out. I passed the local shopping market and my high school where I enjoyed a fun four years. As I headed to Norman I realized I was leaving everything I had ever known. All my life has consisted of living in the same house, going to school with the same kids, and going to the same supermarkets and restaurants. While I’d like to say I have developed a good idea of the world around me by visiting so many cities around the United States, in reality the only world I’ve ever known is the same one I have spent my whole life in. I have loved growing up in Northwest Oklahoma City with the friends that have helped shaped me into who I am today, however I relished the opportunity…

When an average high schooler walks into senior year, the students are quickly bombarded by school counselors discussing which four year college they should apply too. At my high school, it was never second guessed whether the student would be attending college but was assumed. Most people have misconceptions that if they do not get a degree, they will unable to obtain a job and have an overall unsuccessful life. In Charles Murray’s, “Are Too Many People Going to College” and Freeman Hrabowski’s “College Prepares People for Life”, the two author both discuss the education system we have in place, however, Charles Murray provides a more convincing argument that college, contrary to popular belief, is just not for everyone.…

Is college worth going to? Does going to it help you in the future? Or does it just put you in debt? Many people think of college as something that everyone has to go to, to be successful in life. But it isn’t alway necessary to be successful. For example some of the most successful people in the world such as Bill Gates and Steve Jobs dropped out of high school but are very proficient at what they do. Right now you may think that it doesn't matter if I go to college because they didn’t and yet they became very successful. But you’re wrong. Even though they succeeded when they dropped out and didn’t go to college it doesn’t mean you will. College is worth going to even if it costs thousand of dollars and even if you’re not meant to be there.…

It is very important to attend college as it provides many advantages and opportunities. For some, continuing education past high school is a scary thought. More course work, adjusting and fitting into a new environment and finding out how to take care of the forever rising cost of tuition expenses can be very intimidating and stressful for young adolescents. Students may begin to ask themselves what’s the importance of a college education. However, in todays economy the importance of a college education cannot be measured. The benefits of college far outweigh the stress. College is a very difficult decision in many people's lives around the world. The stories of Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs show that sometimes college would not be the best idea for some people. Even my father, who dropped out of college, is very successful and supports his family wealthily, while not having to do as much work as most people. However, these successful people went through difficult times and failed much in life, before becoming who they are now. While many people believe college is not worth it, it really is, because college is a pathway for many people into a great career, while also allowing graduates the gain of knowledge from the experience.…

I agree with this quote because I believe it is true, college does not guarantee happiness but it does guarantee a chunk of money they take. Most Americans agree with society norms that college is always going to get you to a better place with a happier life. A quote from Lawrence B. Shlack states” Not more than 20 percent of careers in the work world of tomorrow will require a four a four year degree” which shocks me knowing that almost every person I know plans to go to college when jobs are soon not required a four year degree. In a letter written by Angel B. Perez, he talks about how if you want a successful you need to learn to fail. With this in mind when he states” Failure can’t be taught in a classroom” worries me about the people who will be sitting in the classroom for another four years of their life and expect that…

People say you have to attend college too actually succeed in life. Most of the celebrities we see on TV probably did not attend college or maybe not even finish high school. Probably most of them weren’t straight A students if they did attended high school or college. The point is, you don’t always need to pursue your goals through education in order to succeed. When I was a senior in high school, I had this friend named Alexus Davis. We were sitting in cosmetology class talking while doing the mannequins hair. We were having this conversation about if you we really need to attend school in order for us not to be poor in the future. We had some disagreements but she proved me wrong once she told me her dad’s story of life. Alexus dad dropped out of high school and he didn’t attend college either. He thought he wasn’t going to be able to provide his family in the future the right way, but now Alexus father has his own construction business. She said that her father build their house that there are living in now and he did all this without an education. I told her success comes from great talents, but not everyone has that amazing talent to not succeed in life. When I compared her father to my mother, it made sense to me. My mother always told me “no one can become nothing if they don’t have an education”, but what about the celebrities they show on T.V or Alexus father. These people became something by showing their talents and their talents turns into business.…
