The man on the penny was definitely had a lot more worth than just one cent.
Born on February 12, 1809 Abraham Lincoln came into this world, but little did he know he would make a difference. Abraham was a wise man or as some may call him “Honest Abe.” He was the 16th president of the United States and he was known for strengthening federal government, and modernizing the economy. Not only was he just the man on the penny and the president he also was a self taught Illinois lawyer and legislator. Many other people made lots of contributions to the end of slavery, one may believe the Abraham Lincoln had the largest. Abraham Lincoln was a huge contribution to the end of slavery because of his early life, the Emancipation Proclamation, and his presidency when guiding the country through the Civil War. Abraham was conceived by his mother and was fathered by Tom Lincoln. Life was tough for Abraham and his family with his dad working the farm but yet very successful and his mother running the house. Soon the family found out that the laws weren’t protecting his family from people who poached his land so they moved to Perry County, Indiana; yet Indiana was very difficult to farm. Tom had to continually hunt for food for the small family. Soon, Tom had built a log cabin for the family, so they can stay in a better home. Sleeping on hard grounds was tough as they laid haystacks for sleeping which was often inhabited by bugs and rodents. As time passed young Abe was nine and his sister was eleven, as one may know they had a lot of major setbacks but the worse had taken over the family. Mom had died from milk sickness
