An essay about a truly amazing man, that helped shape our Great Nation
George Washington a Virginia planter AKA the “Father of Our Country” was born February 22 1732 the first son Augustine Washington and Mary Ball Washington. At 16 George began a career as a land surveyor for Lord Fairfax “according to part 1 of the video Life of George Washington”.
Washington’s military career began in 1752 at the age of 20 he joined the Virginia Militia and was appointed a District Adjutant General. During his service in the military he climbed in rank from District Adjutant General, to Lieutenant Colonel, on to Colonel Commander of all …show more content…
Aside being the first President of our great nation, he was an Entrepreneur he worked as an Architect, a whiskey maker, a spymaster, and a farmer an Englishman once referred to him as the “Foremost Farmer” of America. He also enjoyed dancing and theater as well as fox hunting and fishing. I also found that he helped to promote the use of mules in the United States. Mules have made many peoples jobs a lot easier. In conclusion Not only did he lead the Continental Army to victory over the British thus ending the war, but he believed in a strong federal government, and helped establish the “Free” world we live in today. Without Washington we just may not be able to enjoy our “Rights of Freedom” as we do today. Our country still follows in some of the huge (size 13 huge!) foot prints that Washington left, such as the 22nd Amendments of our U.S Constitution limiting the Presidents time in office to two terms. I personally think George Washington was a wonderful man and I believe he played a huge role in the birth and survival of the United

    George Washington was the First President of the Unitd States (1789-1797)and commander in chief of the Continental army (1775-1783) at a most critical period in American history. He was one of the most influlential revolutionary leaders of his time and earned the title "Father of His Country." While commander in chief of the Continental army, he won many important battles that helped the Americans defeat the British, then the most powerful nation in the world. Washington made the American Revolution successful not only by his personal military triumphs but also by his skill in directing other operations. With boh military background nad training, Washington had learned how to challenge me to give their best. He created the Continental Army out of what was little more than an armed mob, which fought and won the American Revolution. With victiory won, Washington was the most highly looked upon man in the United States. Many people wanted Washington to use this power to establish a military dictatorship or to become king. Washington did not pursue this idea bcause he realized dictatorship would be the downfall of the future independent nation. He was the leading influence of the union of the states under a strong central government and later the Constitution of the United States. After a new government was organized, Washington was unanimously chosen the first President and took office in 1783. Washington's role as president was important in winning the support for the new government's domestic and foreign policies. He is responsible for building much of the country's political nad econmic structure. Washington fully understood the significance of his presidency. Probably no other man could have succeded in turning the states into a loasting union. Around 1792, Washington was thinkin about retirement.
