The Israelites, who began around 1300 BC and ended around 67 AD. The Israelites lasted as long as they did for a few reasons. When the israelites established a kingdom, it was after they were led out slavery in Egypt. It was rough at first because Israelites were ruled by judges. They were led by many kings after. The first, which was King Saul. The God appointed David as king. It was thought that during David’s reign and his son, Solomon, was Israel’s golden age. Why this time was so successful for the Israelites, is because the kings followed as God had told them. The kings also conquered many neighboring lands, The israelites didn’t get to pick their kings, but they believed the kings were chosen by God so they agree when someone was appointed king. The Israelites’ golden age ended when Israel split into two kingdoms after Solomon’s death. They were called Israel and Judah.The split weakened both kingdoms. Israel was attacked and practically destroyed by the Assyrians a while after the split. After this, Israel and Judah went into an extreme decline. Both kingdoms continued to go through many hard times. Judah and Jerusalem are destroyed by a series of attacks by King Nebuchadnezzar.
