How Did Many Americans Survive In Jamestown

Many have died but only some have survived in Jamestown. In may of 1607 Jamestown was founded in what today is known as Virginia. The ship landed in Virginia with about 110 English Men. The people were hoping to find gold and new land In “The new lands” or North and South America. They all had trouble surviving because they lacked the skills to survive. Something interesting as that pocahontas was actually real and helped the english men in a voyage. Frances west left his own people to die. He started a war and left his people to fight his battles. Many colonist died because of lack of food, water, and the native american attacks.
In fact the first reason people died was because of lack of food. They didn't have many animals around because of how dirty the land was because of them throwing out their poop (Blanton 55). “it was plenty to get them fatly home to england., And headed out into the atlantic.”(61). They didn't have any skilled farmers or butchers to get them any meat or to grow corn ( Smith 59) . “ Frances West and thirty-six men men [sailed] up the chesapeake bay to try to trade for corn with the Potawomeke Indians.” (61)Some people who did live still died from something else. The filthy water would not disperse so it stayed there making it even more dirty(Blanton 55). When they created wells the water would become filthy or become salty. The author showed” Surgeon 1”in ( 59) which means they only had one surgeon. They didn't have any reliable sources of water because they threw their waste into the water (Blanton 55).
