From peoples point of view of the country the wall meant that they had no rights or freedom and it restricted them from many things. Trains and subways went back and forth carrying passengers across the border every day, but after the wall was built it no longer became possible to get from east to west Berlin. Once the trains and subways were no longer aloud across there was really no use for them because people could not get to where they wanted to go. They could not get to certain places such as the movies, the store, or anywhere that involved passing the border for any reason. For east Germany luxuries such as coffee were off limits and they could not get them anymore due to the wall. It was an inconvenience for everyone, they did not have the freedom to not only do as they please but they did not even have the options to get things they want or need. People could not see family members or anyone they wanted to see if they were across the border. The government did not give them the right to pass even if it was for a relative. They did not have the privilege anymore to see them, this was a big issue for people and thousands died trying to get across the border to see their loved ones.
