The 18th amendment prohibits alcohol after one year of transportation, sales, and the manufacture of the intoxicating liquors which led up to the beverage being prohibited in the United States. This amendment lets women have the right to vote and gives anybody the right to vote, no matter the race or gender. Women have been fighting for years for this amendment to come, or even to have their own rights and to not be treated differently just because of their gender. Some other challenges that women had to face were passing suffrage acts in 9 of the western states. Parades, Strikes, and Silent Vigils were also held during this time; most of the participants were abused and even put in jail when all of this was going on in the 1900’s. Women were going through a lot during these times and for this amendment to be passed helped them participate in more political things and other things that they could not do before. All of this led to women gaining the confidence to lead movements and also women suffrage campaigns.The ratification of the Reconstruction Amendments had brought attention to the issues in the women's suffrage movements after aiming at protecting African American civil rights.
