The Black Sea Basin is loaded with biological resources. Fish is the most important biological resource. The usual catch per year is one million tons. The main fish species include anchovy, sturgeon, beluga, mackerel, mullet, salmon, herring, sardines, flounder, and bullhead. Many of those fish are caught by fisherman. Because of all the different natural resources, light industries and food processing plants have developed. The fish-canning industry has plants around and near the Black Sea in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Izmail, and Kerch. The waters of the shallower bays contain a large amount of calcium, sodium, and magnesium salts which are used by Saky Chemical Plant in the Cremea area (Internet Encyclopedia of Ukraine). In 2007, about 961,000 people were employed because of the Black Sea. There was and still is variety of job opportunities from the Black Sea whether it has to do with shipping, ports, industrial plants, ports, and tourism (Black Sea Statistics). The Black Sea is a very popular tourist and health resort destination because of the tropical climate, sandy beaches, and curative muds. The Black Sea is an important part of Russian history because of how influential it was to the people. The Black Sea is also an important part of many other countries ' histories also. The Russian culture has a lot to do with the Black Sea because without it the Russian culture would not be as diverse. There would have been less trade, travel, transportation, and communication. The Black Sea also generated a lot of money from tourists, natural resources, and industry. Without the Black Sea, Russia would definitely be less developed than they are
