Many of these people say that the civil war brought equality to the nation even if it took almost a century, and even if the civil war did not directly bring equality in the USA, it did bring equality indirectly. We shall examine 4 different time periods and examples from those time periods that show that the civil war did not bring freedom to blacks in the USA.

While Black soldiers were payed 10 dollars a month, along with 3 dollars deducted from their salary for clothing expenses (which brings it down to 7 dollars), while white soldiers got paid 13 dollars a month with no clothing expenses. Another example is when
Abraham Lincoln instigated the draft, and how whites reacted. Due to the fact that the amount of soldiers in the union military was dropping, Abraham Lincoln created a draft, where, if you were drafted you had to fight for the military. Many northerners were very unhappy with this draft rule since they felt that this war was being fought over the blacks.
Now, northerners would proceed to lynch blacks in the streets as well as shoot at them in broad daylight.
During the Reconstruction period in the USA another act of racism and inequality was committed. Forty acres and a mule is a very common phrase said today. However, this phrase was originally very important for blacks. After the civil war, the United states promised 40 acres of southern and conquered land to black communities as compensation for the many years of slavery that they had to endure. Unfortunately, with more than
