How The Civil War Changed America?

The Civil War was a long, costly war that changed America forever. Reconstruction was an attempt to mend America back together after it had been divided in half between people who wanted equality for all and people who did not want to give up their way of life. The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified during Reconstruction, and it was a very defining moment since this was one of the main goals the Civil War aimed to achieve. This amendment guaranteed that anyone born in the United States is a citizen and is protected under the law. The Civil War was fought to end slavery so African Americans could finally be free and treated with respect as American citizens, and the amendment gave them that right. He described in detail what the conditions were like in Brazil such as the weather, soil, and culture so that way people who choose to follow him know what they are getting into. Many Southerners were not willing to accept African Americans as citizens which means they did not agree with the Fourteenth Amendment so Gaston was explaining to them that in Brazil African Americans have the status they once did in America.
