The American Revolution started in 1775 and ended in 1783. There wasn’t just one particular event that led up to the Revolutionary War but it was a series such as the Molasses Act of 1733, the Proclamation of 1763, Sugar Act of 1764, Currency Act of 1764, Stamp Act of 1765, Quartering Act of 1765, Townshend Acts, and Boston Massacre. After those events the Colonists broke ties from the British by declaring the Revolutionary War.
