How Did The German Alliance Cause Ww1

In 1881, Germany came up with an alliance with Austria-Hungary and Russia called the “Three Emperors’ League”. During their alliances, both Germany and Russia had many disputes over Bosnia and Serbia because both were greedy for that land. This alliance went on until a Wilhelm II became the new emperor of Germany and fired of Bismarck who came with the alliance, and kicked Russia of the league. In 1908, France signed an alliance treaty with Russia and later on with Britain called The Triple Entente. As a response to The Triple Entente, Germany came up with their treaty alliances with Austria-Hungary, turkey and Bulgaria called the Central Powers. What really sparked the war were the Assassination of Austria’s Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife by a Serbian militant. Austrian got furious and blamed Serbia. More on, they even sent their militants to undertake Belgrade. This brought Serbia’s allies come and intervene in the dispute. Therefore, Germany and other allies came in to back Austria up and that is how the First World War began.
When the War began in Europe, United Sates had no intention in interfering and stayed away from the war.
During that period, Woodrow Wilson was the president of the United States and his foreign policy towards Europe was to stay “Neutral”. In other words, they were isolationist. The only thing that kept United States involvement was business and cultural ties Europe. This made Germany somewhat jealous because was US was having more business with The Triple Entente than the central power and they thought that they are kind aiding them. Therefore, Germans sent U-Boats to block of merchant ship from its destination and later sunk after being
attacked. This made United States angry and forced President Woodrow Wilson to go to congress and propose war on Germany and their allies. The congress agreed with his proposition and brought US into the war in 1917. From this point on US got involved in foreign relation and had a change in their foreign policy. In addition, they also allied with the Triple Entente because it Germans who got them involved in the War. Woodrow Wilson had both accomplished and failed in some aspects during the War. His accomplishments were coming up with the fourteen points and leading US to victory by bestowing peace between the enemies. Well his fourteen points failed because people were not that interested in it and his victory was not really a victory for US because they achieved nothing. Many US soldiers died but for what cause? Was it just for retaliation or just to intervene and protect other countries from threats?
United States did not benefited from the war because soldiers’ lives were lost just cause of disputes of other nation. They were not fighting for their country but fighting for other country. Alliance was the main reason that caused the First World War Even Woodrow Wilson came up with alliance system to keep peace throughout the world in his fourteen points called League of Nation. The people rightfully rejected this because such alliances created more riots than peace.
