During the ancient games an oracle was made for Zeus, along with a altar consisting a bonfire to burn sacrificial offerings. As the offerings were burnt, it was examined by a priest who announced an oracle according to what he saw. Athletes came to the priest to learn how bright they’re luck was for the Games.(3.) In ancient Greece they had a festival for Hera (Zeus’ wife). It was a simple festival ,which continued throughout the Games. However the modern Opening Ceremonies are huge events with famous performers including singing and dancing. Also ancient Greek athletes trained less than modern day athletes .Ancient Greek athletes trained for only ten months. Nonetheless today's athletes train their whole lives and go through a series of drug tests before they can compete in the Games. Finally, the awards that were given (only to one) were more different than modern awarded. Today athletes are awarded gold for first, silver for second, and bronze for a third place finish.
