How Does Commitment Affect The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
My universal theme, which could be one of the most important, is commitment. Commitment is your devotion to something. If you are committed to something, then you will not stop doing that certain thing until it is accomplished. Commitment is obligation, it is passion, but it is also voluntary. Not everyone chooses to always be committed, but at some point in someone’s life, they are committed to something. Commitment affects everything, even books. Three books that I read (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, I Promised I would Tell, and The Diary of Anne Frank - The Play) are just some examples of commitment. Commitment effects The Boy in the Striped Pajamas because Bruno and Shmuel made promises and sacrifices to each other, to help each other and stay friends. (Boyne 134) Everyday, Bruno brought and smuggled food to his struggling friend on the other side of the fence. Bruno still brought food over to Shmuel, even though he would get into a lot of trouble helping his Jewish friend. However, commitment doesn’t just affect my independent reading book. …show more content…

Commitment should and does affect everyone, but it affects me because I am committed to soccer, and trying to make the best team I can. A photograph of me playing soccer will represent my personal visual piece. The photograph taken by my sister connects to commitment because it shows me practicing, and getting better at soccer. I am committed to soccer and being the best I can be because I love it, and I’ve always had the dream of making the varsity team, or possibly something even bigger in the future. I always put 100% effort into my practices and out. I even started to run track so I can get in shape and be in my best condition to play and practice the sport I love. Commitment affects everyone; it’s in everyone’s life, no matter how big or small it may be. For me, commitment is in my life in the form of soccer, I’m committed to becoming a better player, and making the best team

It is hard for someone to fully immerse themselves into a movie when they have to suspend so much belief in the story. Although Bruno and Shmuel are both only eight, it is hard to believe that they would be as clueless as to what is happening. Shmuel lived in the concentration camp and seemed to have no idea what was going on inside it. It is also hard to believe that Bruno, being as curious as he is, would not have tried eavesdropping on his father’s meetings. It is also convenient that none of the guards ever caught them sitting by the fence or that, Bruno’s mother did not notice that he has been disappearing every day. Another unbelievable aspect is how Bruno was able to easily enter into the camp. The camps were meant to be well guarded, and if it were that easy for a boy to enter, it would have been easy for anyone to leave.…

Commitment to me means to totally dedicate myself to something. Pouring all my energy into the event, team or task I have chosen to be a part of because I made the choice to be committed to it. Inside the dojang I am committed to doing my best to improve my forms and techniques so I am ready to test for the next rank. I am committed to always being on my best behavior so that I am a role model for the younger students. I am committed to remaining focused on the lessons being taught, and to respect everyone in the class. I am committed to other activities outside the dojang like my travel soccer team, the marching band at high school and my youth group at church. Sometimes it is hard to want to come to class but the only way I will get better at Soo Bahk Do is to make it to class and practice hard. I am committed to making it to class and putting some time in outside of the practices so I can excel at my techniques and be ready for my Cho Dan test.…

The First inaccuracy that I noticed was that the characters in the movie is speaking in English with British accents. Since the story is set in Germany, the Characters would have spoken German with German accents. Another inaccuracy in the movie is that Shmuel and Bruno should have never met. In the real Auschwitz, children under the acceptable working age of twelve would have been killed within the first day of arriving at the concentration camp. Since Shmuel was eight years old like Bruno, he would not have survived multiple days living within the camp. Suppose he was allowed to live he would not have been able to become friends with Bruno. Inmates would not have been left unsupervised for long periods of time. Towards the end of the movie, Shmuel helps Bruno sneak under the fence and the two boys go off to find Shmuel’s father, who in reality was most likely dead. It would have been almost impossible to sneak into a concentration camp like Auschwitz. This camp would have been heavily guarded and not easy to sneak in or out off. The last inaccuracy that I found was that Shmuel referred to the camp inmates as being people like him, Jewish. Which is not entirely true. Although Auschwitz would have mainly been made up of mostly Jewish prisoners, the concentration camps were not just holding the Jewish people. These camps would have had inmates that were Jews, Gypsies, Soviet prisoners of war, Poles, Roma, and other nationalities as well. In conclusion, I would not suggest watching this…

One of the factors that influence commitment is emotional issues or mood swings. This quote has been the foundation for my father's belief that team sports teach commitment. When I started middle school my father insisted that I do a team sport. At the time I had been riding horses for many years and was facing a fork in the road and had to make a big decision. At 11 years old I changed the course of my life by joining a team sport in which I have learned the value of personal commitment, strong leadership skills, and how to challenge myself to achieve both mine and my teammates’ goals.…
