Scrooge hated Christmas shown by when he said, “Bah Humbug” (4) to his nephew when he was wishing him a merry Christmas and trying to invite him to Christmas dinner with his family. Even when his nephew was trying to share Christmas spirit with Scrooge and his family, Scrooge told him no in a rude tone. This shows that Scrooge hates the holiday seasons and doesn’t enjoy people celebrating the holidays. In chapter 2 we meet the character Fan, who is Scrooges sister. In the story, she is shown to be a sweet and kind girl who helped Scrooge come home from boarding school. Fan said “Dear, dear brother, I have come to bring you home, dear brother!” She uses a grateful and loving tone when she is talking to her brother Scrooge and telling him that their father wanted him back for the holidays. This shows the attitude can affect people in a positive way, when Fan told Scrooge how happy it was to see him, she made Scrooge happy
