How Does Style Affect My Writing
To begin, I have learned quite a bit of information in this first module. Two of the most important things that I have learned include being able to write a summary correctly and learning what style is in writing. The consequences of learning these two important concepts is that I have become much more confident in my writing skills, whether it be writing a 1,000-word paper, or summarizing a narrative or research paper.
My understanding of writing has increased tremendously. For example, I can now tell whether I am summarizing or analyzing a paper because of the lessons taught early on in this course, which included examples and information on the differences between a summary and an analysis. Also, we summarized one narrative and one research

I learned the definition of style, how word choice can affect your writing, how to use passive or active voice, and I now understand how to determine the structure of sentences and paragraphs. Learning all of the factors that go into style really contributed to the 1,000-word auto ethnography paper and both of the summaries I wrote. I feel like I chose words that made my writings flow smoothly, I was able to stick to either a passive voice or an active voice, and I made sure to structure my sentences and paragraphs in the most logical way possible. I was able to do this because I now understand style.
Additionally, I feel that this module has prepared me to write better in future writing courses. I know that I will have to write summaries, as well as papers in my future. I know that I will be able to write logically because I understand style and I now know how to summarize correctly. I believe the skills I learned will further my understanding of writing because I will be able to look further and deeper into my papers and summaries. I will also be able to focus on learning other topics, now that I have learned two very important topics

Focusing in self- evaluation to improve the learning process, help me to set goals and be aware of my own mistakes. When the English Composition course started, I wanted to be able to express my thoughts and my ideas in an effective way. The process of writing for non-native speakers of English is kind of difficult. For me, the American style of writing is very narrow, and my style is completely different. I found myself having trouble sticking to a thesis, because I had so many ideas that I did not know how to organize, and that was the primary purpose of taking this course, to learn to make my writings more organized.…

I learned two major things about my writing skills during this class. First, when presenting an essay for peer review, make sure that it is not a very rough draft. Second, the types of essay styles can change easily when writing. Even though my paper is supposed to be expository, using certain words and tone can create a totally different essay style.…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

Our descriptions of each writing style are very similar. An observation you made about Personal writing pattern was how the style is created is really up to the author. Persuasive and expository seem to have more defined approached because they have a specific purpose to explain or persuade. With a Persuasive writing pattern you do have to be careful of your word choices to help persuade, and also incorporating an emotional tone can help win over the audience. Expository writing style gives an explanation using factual information that is unbiased.…

Imagine a beautiful mountain with snow covering its peak and as the snow melts it forms a small waterfall going down the mountain to the bottom. Doesn’t that make you want to close your eyes and just picture that detail and picture all the colors and beautiful scenery. These are the tools which authors and filmmakers use to get their audiences to be interested and indulge in reading a book or watching a movie. The way an author writes a book allows the reader to use their own imagination. The reader does so by the author’s use of diction and imagery. One may think that TV episodes or movies are different, and yes they are a little different compared to books because the reader, in this case the audience, may not need to use their imagination as much but nonetheless the director and story writer do rely on diction and imagery in order to connect with their audience. The use of characters in books and TV shows is also a very important tool because it allows the audience to be able to relate with the characters that the author uses. The book How the Grinch stole Christmas and South park episode Something Wall-Mart This Way Come both get their point across to their audience by making use of diction, imagery and characters but TV episode Something Wall-Mart This Way Come is able to get its point across more effectively.…

    My Writing Style Analysis

The Nature of a person's writing style can sometimes show more about an individual then the words they actually write, the poetic twists in sentence flow or the professional structure of their grammar. Writing styles are as unique as fingerprints and to define them can be as arduous as mastering the skills required to properly form one. In the quest to define my own style I discovered a detail that I have determined encapsulates the style with which I write; I write with passion. When I say I am a passionate writer I don't mean that I love to write but more that my level of personal affection toward the subject I am writing on directly affects the emotional nature I write in. In other words, I write more expressively and artistically the…

Personally, I believe I have grown as a writer. At the beginning of the bridge program, my CSP class was asked to write a paper. The topic was about why we decided to choose U of M as our college of choice. Writing the paper was a breeze and I felt confident that I would get a good grade. Unfortunately, when I was handed back my paper, I realized I earned a B on the paper. However, during the period of time where my professor was checking our papers, my Writing 100 class read David Bartholame’s article, Inventing the University. The first time I read this article, I did not understand what he was talking about and what his central theme way. However, after reading the article numerous times, breaking it down, outlining it, diagraming it, and writing about it several times, I was able to understand what he wanted the readers to know; a light bulb went off in my head. I saw the mistakes I made when writing my first paper for my CSP class.…

I learned that detail is important to a story, that the setting is crucial, and that the opening paragraph is important. I also got to refine the writing skills I had prior to the assignment. Skills I have and displayed are creativity, through my story plot and the ability of keeping the reader interested in my story, through my use of imagery and detail. In the future, I hope to turn the lessons I learned into major strengths, in my writing. I also hope to further the strengths I already have and to do better with my grammar and spelling in the first draft. I can’t wait for the next creative writing…

This semester was a great learning experience for me. For my writing process, if I was reading a book, I always highlight specific details or big ideas. It made it easier for me to find important evidence. I also highlighted stuff because I knew your reading quizzes would ask specific details that otherwise wouldn’t be taken into account. I knew what to look for when it came time to actually writing it. When I highlighted, it helped me realize a pattern or the underlining meaning because I would make connections between different parts of the book. During my research paper, the little lesson of how to do bibliography cards was very useful to me. I like to be able to know what is expected and how to meet the expectations, without feeling to…
