How Does Target Made Any Mistakes?
From a management perspective, do you think Target made any mistakes? Justify your answer. Being in management is an exceptionally stressful job as one has to be able to manage, organize, oversee and make decision that are most beneficial to the company. From a Chief Executive Officer I presume these levels of stress are even more amplified as they are making over a billion decisions a year on a higher level that could virtually cost them their companies (Larson, 2017). As an avid Target shopper, I for one was very taken aback by the breach of public information. This was mainly because I was under a blindfold that because Target is such a great store and brand, they had been able to safeguard themselves from issues of this nature. The …show more content…
Preparation is always the first step in any task. This is where you decide what your ultimate goal is and what you would like to see as the outcome for any project. Once that has been established, organizing, in the form of steps that need to be take place, is a reasonable direction to go in; as you want to make sure, you are hitting mini goals or targets along the way (Kinicki & Williams, 2016). The next two steps show leadership qualities by influencing and motivating a team to stay on the path of the goal and essentially monitor that progress as it happen (Kinicki & Williams, 2016). Of these functions, I believe that Ms. Steinhafel may believe that he followed these functions because he wanted to do damage control. Being that this has happened in the past and reiterating that I am an avid Target shopper and believer of the brand these challenges have been overcome through aggressive marketing and rebuilding the brand with which one would put their trust in. During this process, they had to work with regaining the trust of the customer as many left to shop at other companies such as Wal-Mart. I believe there was a realignment to their customer base as there were customers of a diverse background and their campaign including these individuals in their commercials showed inclusion from a global aspect. Energizing their online presence has been a great contribution to the Target brand through Information Technology. Ethical standards show that a company is able to recognize their responsibilities to the public (Hamilton & Hoch, 1997). Marketing plays a major part in sustaining and having happy customers.
